Bacon

Yes - the first post in this blog is about bacon.
I would like to come out and publicly announce my life is this savory meat. I can't really think of a meal that would not benefit from the addition of bacon.
I think one of my greatest discoveries was microwaving bacon. I like my bacon very crispy, but not burnt. It's hard to get it that way when frying it, but microwaved, it's perfect. I used to think that microwave ovens were a boon to reheating. While they excel at that, it's their bacon preparation abilities that truly make them shine. The strips get lean and crispy and most of the fat just melts right off. You're left with lean, crispy strips of delicious, life-affirming bacon.
As a side benefit, I get to fill up fat jars and give them away as gifts.
